Meda in briefMeda’s geographic coverage 2009 sales totaled SEK 13,178 million. Sales are generated in about 120 countries and Meda has own sales and marketing organizations in more than 50 of these. Meda’s primary markets are the US and Europe. As a specialty pharma company, Meda chooses to refrain from risky, capital-intensive early research. Instead, development and expansion build on acquisitions of both products and companies, collaborations with other pharma companies, and late-clinical-phase drug development. Meda's priority therapy areas are respiratory, cardiology, pain and inflammation, dermatology and CNS. Products in these groups generated about 80% of total sales in 2008. The 10 largest individual products account for about 45% of total sales, with the single largest-selling product accounting for about 10%.
